Big walker, little eater.

Life around here lately has been a little upside down. Since finding out we are moving our store and getting ready for Miles first birthday bash, we have been busier than normal. I feel like he changes on a weekly basis. He got three more teeth last week and is in a good mood again. He has begun walking everywhere. Ben and I have decided it's just easier to crawl around following him than to try to sit down and get comfy. Half the time he doesn't even know where he is going, nor does he care, but just takes off. He gets his little legs moving so fast and just hopes his body can keep up. He is getting much better at it too, he can now walk from where our leather chair is into the laundry room.

On the eating side, I'm realizing he is a little texture man. He loves anything dry: crackers, Graham crackers, tortillas, bread, puffs, etc. He gets so grossed out anytime he touches something such as a banana or a cooked piece of sweet potato. If you try to put it on a spoon and feed it to him that way you'd think you're giving him d-con. Then at that point, you're screwed for the rest of the meal because he thinks that every time the spoon goes towards his face it's got something scary in it. Maybe his teeth will make a difference. And if not, well, let's jut hope he gets the hang of it before kindergarten.

On that topic, I'm pretty sure he'll think he's being punished when I put his birthday cake in front of him with messy icing.

Here is a picture of him from yesterday morning. This kid is a character but it makes him even more lovable.

it's the little things...

it truly is the "insignificant" moments that make life most meaningful.

such as:
-the way miles tucks his arm between my back and the chair when i rock him.
-when he stands up against the dryer and beats on it with both hands and squeals with excitement.
-how his whole body shivers when he's peeing in his diaper.
-the obsession he has with knobs, drawer pulls and handles.
-the joy on his face after walking several steps without falling.
-how wiggly and unmanageable he is when changing his diaper. it's ridiculous really, but someday i might look back and find it charming.
-the songs ben makes up to sing to him. it is hilarious and even more funny that miles has no idea what he is singing about.

thats it for now, just didn't want to forget them.

looking forward to 2012!

Let's be honest, 2011 was a doozie.

It was the most fun, wonderful, difficult, eye opening, sleep deprived, educational, inspiring, hopeful, stressful, amazing, indescribable, exhausting, incredible year of our lives. I think this year is going to be a blast. We feel a sense of accomplishment that we have a healthy, thriving 11 month old. We did it. We raised a baby. A ha
ppy baby at that. Now we look forward to Miles eating real foods, walking (almost there!), talking more, sleeping in later, and more teeth.

We've accomplished two big milestones lately.
1. No more sleep sack. He just sleeps in zip up pajamas with a onesie underneath. (not that anyone cares about this, its more for my own records.)
2. No more baby bath. If you've seen him lately, you know he is a WILD MAN. He wanted out of that baby bath so we now just put water in
the bath and he wallers around in it, not caring if his fa
ce gets in the water.

He is on the verge of walking. He loves the radio flyer cart to push all his toys around in. We got a handheld video camera for Christmas and as soon as I figure out how to post the videos from the camera directly to you tube, I'll post it.

For now, here are a few pics of pure sweetness.

Grandma Becky got Miles a Gymboree class for Christmas. She said he loves it and has the pictures to prove it. Besides the awkward first class where he stared down a black lady and continued to stare after my mom moved him 3 times, it has been great.

I wanted to snap a picture of him with the Christmas tree before we took it down the other day. I couldn't have dreamed of a more perfect picture.
