A typical night...

Miles is getting better at walking. These walker things are kind of a joke and he seems to be preoccupied smiling for the camera but it was a good effort by the little guy five minutes before bed time!!

Ten months and counting

Our little stinker is 10 months already (which makes cousin Sam 17 months! Yep, exactly seven months apart to the day). He's officially on the move. He pulls up on anything and everything including his crib, couches, fireplace, ottoman, etc. He falls and gets right back up. I don't think it'll be too long till he walks. The kid has no fear.

We had a wonderful thanksgiving and have so much to be thankful for besides our little turkey.
Our health, jobs, and all kinds of things we take sometimes take for granted such as food on the table, gas in the car, and diapers in the basket. My mom and dad came over and we had a wonderful meal and my dad hooked up the sweetest indoor swing you've ever seen. It's actually an outdoor swing that he hung to the basement ceiling. It. Is. Awesome. Then ben and I just hung out and ate leftovers.

Then yesterday we went and got our Christmas tree, then stopped and got carryout from BW3's. It was a stellar day. Well, besides miles waking up at 5:00 am Saturday morning. Ben and I alternate mornings to get up with him (he usually gets up around 6-6:30). It was my morning so I thought what am I going to do with him? Answer: hit up home depot at castleton to look for a strand of garland I needed! They had it so it was a success. And if you're looking for the perfect time to shop at home depot, go at 6:30 am Saturday morning.

I'm going to try to post this crawling video, hope it works. Three things to look for: 1. He really wants to walk with his left leg. It's like he just wants to go a bit faster. 2. I said he has no fear. Watch how he whips around that jack in the box toy. Pretty sure my hair will turn gray any day now. 3. We dont always throw mini footballs at him. It really is soft and ben was just playing. Love that little guy!

check up

Miles went for his nine month checkup on Monday. Overall it went really well, besides the shots but that was expected. He is 22 1/2 lbs which puts him in the 87th percentile for weight, and he was I think 29 1/2 inches which is the 92nd for height. That won't last long! I did start to buy him 12-18 month clothes though because his 6-12 month ones are getting tight. By Thanksgiving he will be eating some table foods (bananas, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, peas, etc.), how exciting! I am looking forward to it even though baby food is so easy.

Daylight savings time really was challenging to get him to sleep later. It ended up taking 3 or 4 days for him to get used to the new schedule. He is doing fine now. We have been putting him in his bed totally awake (we thought that would help him adjust to time change as well). He has been doing fine with it until the last few days he is standing in his crib. I don't mind this (we lowered his mattress so he can't get out) but he is wild and careless in there. Yesterday I was trying to let him tire himself out by playing in there. Then he is holding on to his crib trying to get his mobile (which has been taken down) and fell and hit is head on the edge of the crib. Then he screams and so I went in and got him to sleep. It seems that he gets so excited to be in there to play that he can't stop pulling himself up and bouncing around.

He is getting so funny. Grandma O bought him a car last week for him to ride in. He LOVES to chase norm around in his car. I will post a video later, it is hysterical. Half of the time he screams in an excited way instead of laughing. I love it. He just seems like a happy go lucky, crazy, funny little guy who likes to have fun.

9 months!

This fall has flown by already. I think I've figured out why. When I was growing up, if I was having a bad day or going through normal teenage drama, my dad would always give me this advice. Pick a few things in the future that you are looking forward to. It could be tomorrow, next week, or next month, and focus on those events. Don't dwell on how you feel today. I think with a baby you subconsciously do this on a daily basis. You live in increments based on your baby's schedule. The next feeding, the next trip out, bed time, bath time, nap time, etc. are all events that you look forward to and it just makes the time FLY. Before you know it it's 5 p.m. and you are both still in your pajamas (okay this happens to Ben quite frequently but I get in the shower on Miles first nap!!).

Miles is showing more and more personality every day. I have a feeling he may not crawl for long. He doesn't do it yet but he gets up on his hands and feet (bypasses the knees) and pulls himself to standing next to the couch, excersaucer, or if we are laying on the floor he does it on us too. Ben and I laugh because he seems to be a loud, silly baby which we are neither particularly silly nor loud. We think it is funny that Miles has those characteristics so far.
He still just has two bottom teeth but I think a few more could be lurking. It's hard to tell. The first one came through and we didn't notice but after the second I was pretty sure he was bipolar. Let's keep our fingers crossed for the next 18 or so.

Here are a few favorite things of his:

1. A sippy cup with water. Loves it.
2. His radio flyer cart that my cousin gave us. We pull him around the house in it and he loves to keep his hand gently on the back left wheel. Evidently just wants to make sure its working okay.
3. Tearing up magazines. He loves the ripping, crunching and flailing of this activity. We let him do it with a newspaper once until we realized he had black hands. Whoopsie.
4. Giving himself kisses in the dining room mirror.
5. Textured books. One book has burlap in it and he can't get enough scratching at it. I don't mind. It files his nails.

it's been a while...

October has been C.R.A.Z.Y. I don't even know where to start. Since my last blog, Ben went to Canada and I took Miles to Chicago with my family to watch Jonathan do the Chicago Marathon. It was fun but exhausting. Looking back I'm shocked we made it home alive. We were on and off the busy subway all day with Mom, Dad, Stacie, and with Miles and Sam in strollers. At one point where we wanted to see Jonathan, I thought I was getting all prepared and gave Miles a bottle. I knew we had to high tail it to the next stop so I was relieved when I noticed him trying to go to the bathroom. I finished giving him his bottle and then laid him down on a stoop to a closed restaurant to change his diaperandget him ready to go. This is when it started to get interesting. Evidently he wasn't finished and it got on his onesie, the blanket he was on, and two clean diapers. Of course I was trying to "pack light" for the day so I didn't bring an extra change of clothes and only 3 clean diapers. Well I got two messy and put the third on him. He therefore wore no shirt the rest of the day. I was stressed. He didn't seem to mind the least bit but we were successful in seeing Jonathan at each stop and he did a great job. Here is a pic of me and Miles in the hot, stinky, crowded subway trying to get to the finish line (along with the other 1.2 million spectators). I was obviously on the verge of a meltdown... but I can laugh about it now...

The next weekend was much more low key. Ben got home from Canada and we celebrated my mom's birthday by going to the pumpkin patch and to her house for soup afterwards. Miles was tired at the pumpkin patch but had fun with Sam and LOVED looking at the tractor on the hayride.
This last weekend was the craziest yet. Friday was Ben and I's anniversary. It's been the best five years of my life. Among other things, I love that he always capitalizes his n's, buttons my jeans when he gets them out of the wash, and tickles Miles to make him scream. The day started off great. Then about noon we got a call that my dad was having a heart attack. Scariest thing ever. We then spent the afternoon in the hospital waiting room while they put stents in his arteries and ran other tests. Thank God he is okay. There was only minor damage that should repair itself within a few months. So he spent the weekend in the hospital and mom was with him for the majority of the time. Then Saturday morning I get up with Miles and he projectile vomits everywhere. I had to go to work (it was my weekend to work and mom was obviously busy at the hospital) so Ben was with him until noon. I came home at noon to Miles crying and Ben throwing up. I was beside myself. Then I got my share of it Monday but no throw ups here just felt nasty. I think we are all good now and getting excited to dress Miles up for Halloween.

Whew, that was a long post. I need to not let so much time pass and I wouldn't have this much to share!
p.s. We also got family pictures done by a friend. I won't post those pics but you can see them on my gallery here: http://gallery.me.com/davidsonkristyn#100119&bgcolor=black&view=grid

happy baby!

We've had lots of giggles around here lately. Miles got over (almost) his cold and doesn't seem to have any teeth coming in right now so we are smooth sailing for a few weeks. He is napping now and has been such a sweet boy this morning. We played, ate, and read lots of Dr. Seuss books. This weather is absolutely perfect so we've been taking some serious stroller rides and hitting up all of the neighborhood parks. Ben took him on a walk and to the park on Monday and this is the picture he sent me from their walk. There is a goat farm across the street where the walkpath goes and Ben likes to make noises at the goats. Looks like they had a playdate. Scary.
After he wakes up from his nap we are going to venture out to Altum's to grab some pumpkins for the porch. I had to laugh last week one morning when I rehashed my previous night in my head. Reminds me of an I Love Lucy episode. It went something like this:

Monday
10 a.m. - went to work, marcia and l.d. came up to help with Miles because ben wasn't feeling well.
11 a.m. - called the doctor about miles cough, they said they'd like to take a listen.
4 p.m. - left work and took miles to the doc. good news- just a cold and no wheezing.
7 p.m. - Put miles to bed but everytime I put him down he started crying. I did this until around 9 p.m.
1 a.m. - Miles woke up screaming so i went and rocked him back to sleep.
2:30 - I wake up and smell something hot. Called my parents for my dad to walk me through some things on the phone. In the meantime, Miles wakes up again so I'm walking around with him seeing if different parts of the house smell. Turned the furnace off and got Miles back to bed and went to bed.
3:30 a.m. - Carbon monoxide alarm went off (because it was out of battery). At first I thought it was the fire alarm and was scheming in my mind how I would reach the alarm on the 9 ft. ceilings. I had decided I would move the dresser to the hallway and climb on top of it. Turned out to be just the carbon monoxide alarm which was in the laundry room within reach. Wanted to throw the stupid thing out the window.
8:30 a.m. - Poor Miles was so sleepy from the rough night I had to wake him up to get the day going.
I survived! This whole time ben wasn't feeling good so he was in bed. In times like these you laugh to keep from crying!
I'll post pics soon but I've got to get my hair washed while Miles is still sleeping :)
Stay tuned for the next episode.

happy fall y'all!

Can't believe summer is O-V-E-R. We're looking forward to fall. Shorter hours for Ben, boots for me, pumpkin spice lattes, our baby in jeans, and Halloween will be the best one yet. Still don't know what Miles will be but we'll think of something hopefully between now and 7 p.m. on October 31st. He has started to THINK about crawling. Not there yet but he is getting his booty up in the air and reaching for things by wiggling closer to them. Here are a few quirks about Mr. Miles at 7 1/2 months:
1. He touches the light on the wall when carrying him down the stairs from a nap or bedtime. Its like it gives him good luck until he passes it again.
2. As his diaper is getting changed, he likes to lounge and cross his legs. (see photo)
3. He now eats anything, but peas and peaches are still his least favorite.
4. Linda has been taking him to the children's museum. She said he laughed hysterically at a man with a puppet on Thursday. Scary to me, funny to him.
5. He has two bottom teeth. We barely made it through them alive. He was all out of sorts but with a little (okay a lot) of ibuprofen we're back to normal, and have two pearly whites on top of that!
6. Since I've last posted, Ben and I went to NYC. Such a fun trip but we did miss the little guy. He hung out with Sam one day/night and Grandma O the other night. As for Ben and I? We slept in until 8:30!!
7. We went to the toy store the other day to get his pal Henry a gift. He loved it, so many fun things to look at.
That's it for now! This weekend we have Henry's Birthday party and lots of lounging/playing at home!

front yard photo shoot

not bad for killing time before bed right? here are some updates on our little guy.
1. eats stage 1 baby food. LOVES bananas, apples, sweet potatoes, carrots. squash is OKAY. HATES peas.
2. naps are getting much more consistent. he is going on his second 2 hour nap of the day as i type this. yay!
3. i think he is getting another tooth right beside the one on the bottom. not sure about this yet.
4. sits up on his own pretty good. we still sit behind him or put pillows there just in case.
5. favorite toy of the moment: either a $.99 blow up pool toy that looks like nemo or a ball that has spikes. he also loves to tear apart mail and magazines.
6. loves going for rides in the bob. i bet my neighbors think all we do is walk him around in the stroller! linda says he also loves watching kids play basketball when maddi goes to open gym. pretty soon he wont want to just watch!
7. i dont think i posted an update from his 6 mo. appointment. if I did here it is again. 19 lbs. 12 oz. (86th percentile), 27 in. long (78th), and i forget how big his head is but it was in the 60-70 percentile.
8. we went to buy buy baby yesterday and made a stop at greenwood village to see the great-grams. we were one for two. grammy jo was getting her hair done but he was able to brighten grammy bert's day! marcia met us over there too. He loved having people laugh at him for rolling over and watching him play. what a little sweetheart.
9. next weekend ben and i are going on a getaway to nyc for 2 1/2 days. i already know how much i will miss that little stinker. it will be good for ben and i though, glad we didn't go this weekend!! miles is partying with sam one night and grandma becky will stay with him one night. so glad to have family close and eager to help. thanks guys!!

you can barely see it but we spotted it, and felt it tonight. who knew? what a little sweetheart. how is it possible to be proud of a baby for getting a tooth?

miles + maddi(e)

Miles has got a few friends. Maddie and Maddi. Maddi is Linda's daughter (Miles' babysitter on Tues./Thurs.) and Maddie is their neighbor. They are only in 4th and 5th grades but are so good with him. In another few years they will be on my short list for babysitters. Linda got a few pics of them playing this week. He's sitting up now too and I think he feels like he can see what's going on!

reverend miles

looks like he's ready to preach out of the back of a van. we get kinda crazy in the mornings around here, this is why he has his jammies on, sitting in his high chair, wearing a fedora. probably as i make our usual 10-12 cups of coffee. we just love this kid. we also have way more fun in the mornings now that we are getting 7-9 hrs of sleep. amen to that.

this little piggy went to market...

I've had a lot of quality time lately with Miles. Saturday morning we went to the Carmel farmer's market where we got peppers, peaches, a cherry pie and some bread from Scholar's Inn. He also saw some amish people for the first time. :) Our little guy will be six months in just two weeks. What does this mean?
1. Some friends borrowed my baby scale. We got it back and put him on it and he was 18 lbs. 15 oz. The kid likes food.
2. He now uses 6-12 months pacifiers. This really is not a big deal other than the pacifier is a bit bigger and he seems to think it is a lollipop.
3. He has grown out of his 3-6 month clothes. :(
4. He goes for his 6 mo. checkup on August 2nd, where the doc will probably tell me to start baby food. How exciting!
5. He is sleeping from about 7:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. I'll take it!
6. He is loving his excersaucer. It is obnoxiously noisy and doesn't go great with the living room furniture but whatever. As Erin put it, I feel like God gave me a hug when he started playing in it.
7. He is getting more and more hair everyday, and we think he is as cute as a button.
8. He now sits like a big boy in his high chair and loves it as well. Here is a pic. He looks a touch Asian but I know his dad and I know there is no Asian in that man.
9. Now that Miles is old enough, I can start jogging with him! I picked up some new running shoes this week and ordered a jogging stroller! As soon as it cools down outside, if that ever happens, we are starting family runs. Norm is still deciding if he wants to participate. He may like the couch better. Soooo excited.

First family vacation, kind of.

So here I am blogging from my phone in bed, at 8:39 I might add. We had our first trip last week to Lake Michigan with Jonathan, Stacie, and Sam. My parents were also there for two of the days. Ben played in the Indiana Open in northern Indiana and just drove back and forth each day. Jonathan caddied for him one day so he had some company. He finished 16th, so good job ben! The tournament was four days so three of the days it was me, miles, jonathan, stacie and sam. J&S were so helpful but it was a tiring week.
Miles is doing great sleeping in his crib on his own room at home but we maybe weren't ready for a pack n play trip. So we rented a condo and he stayed in the room with us. I wanted ben to try to get sleep so I got up and gave him his pacifier multiple times a night. (miles, not ben, although at this point ben probably wished he had a paci too) The day we left we had to leave at 5:45 am. I was up with miles at 4:30 so I thought well I might as well go ahead and finish packing our stuff up. The next thing I know I wake up on the floor next to my suitcase. At that point I thought get me home. Oh and we also quickly realized how difficult it was to go to dinner with our little guys. The last night our brains finally kicked in. We wanted a GOOD meal, not the same crap we had eaten all week. So Jonathan ( who is known for reading reviews) found us a place about 20 miles away in the gay capital of the state. We knew this was a nice restaurant so we planned to get carryout so everyone else in the restaurant could peacefully eat. Stacie called and the lady told her they don't take orders over the phone. So next, in my car, we load up stac and I in the front, 2 babies with carseats in the middle, two dads in the third row made for midgets, and two strollers/diaper bags/etc. I don't know if we resembled Noahs ark or a traveling circus but it was a sight. Totally worth it, the food was unbelievably delicious and we had some good laughs along the way. Overall we had a ton of fun over the course of the week and it was also very tiring, but probably a good experience for us too. Oh, and I don't have any pics to post yet because we smashed my phone in the process of cramming a stroller into the car to get the carryout...
It's now 8:55 and way past my bedtime. Goodnight blog readers!

lately

Last week was busy but fun. Ben was working nonstop so Thursday night I loaded up Mr. Miles and we went to stay at Grandma/Grandpa's condo. Grandpa wasn't there so Mom helped me with Miles during the night. It was difficult sleeping in the same room as him (he slept in the pack n play) because he was constan
tly making noises that would wake me up, then I would impulsively get up and stick his pacifier back in his mouth. Then Friday night was my first night away from the little man. It was our Hacker Girls Weekend for 2011. We went downtown to dinner and then took a limo to the Kenny Chesney concert, none of those things are necessarily baby friendly. So since Ben was working, Grammy Marcia came to the rescue. She slept upstairs to tend to Miles during the night and Ben slept downstairs. This was thelast straw with the whole. She got up 8 times with him! Oops. After some much needed pep talks from my sister in laws, we decided it was time for the big boy to sleep like a big boy. I had to laugh to myself because Ashely asked me what I do when I go in at night and I said "well, i give him his paci, roll him back on his side, rub his back, and he farts." She said "that is ridiculous!" Looking back it totally is but when its your sweet little bundle in there screaming for you its hard not to get up, even if it is for the 8th time. Anyways, much thanks to Grandma O and Grammy M for being our saving grace so far this summer and stepping in to help out. And just as much thanks to my sister in laws for talking some sense into me. Now I am proud to say we put him down around 8 and he sleeps until around 6. Last night he did wake up around 4 but only fussed for about 10 minutes and put himself back to sleep, without any help from Ben or I. Whew, things are looking better and better, and I have more energy to sing "The Wheels on the Bus" to him 67 times per day.
Here are some other current obsessions:
1. Aden & Anais sleep sacks
2. Clean, fresh burp cloths
3. Sitting on my rocking chair on the back deck
4. Baby boy swim trunks
5. CVS coupons (I feel like a coupon freak)
6. Making Miles giggle
7. Watching him grab his feet, especially on the changing table (I'm sure you have a great mental picture of what that looks like)

The Hacker/Shockley/Oliver/Sears Clan: (if Grandma Hacker was still here she would have 16 great grandkids!!!)

Up next:

happy dads day!!

Today is a good day. Why? 1. It's fathers day and I am married to a top notch dad. Ben is so good with miles. He's always up for anything including changing blowout diapers, making up AWESOME baby songs, blowdrying miles hair to spike it when he gets out of the bath, and when he's not working getting up with the little guy between 5:30 and 6:30. 2. Miles just took an hour and fifteen minute nap in his crib. 3. I had powdered sugar donuts and coffee for breakfast. 4. Going to my parents for a cookout tonight. 5. I am blessed to have a great dad of my own. Got to spend the day with him Friday and he is the best man-shopper that i have ever met!

Can life get any better? Here are a few pics from the week.

Oh and the green soothie pacifier in the first pic? It's retired. So excited about it. It was becoming embarrassing that he still was obsessed with the hospital paci. We felt like it was becoming a suri cruise-sucking her thumb-and wearing high heels sort of thing. He's moved on to the big boy blue paci. Yay for miles!!!!

Big boy!

On Monday, Miles went for his 4 month check up. All is well with the little man. He is 16 lbs 4 oz which puts him in the 78th percentile for weight. I can't remember the numbers on his height and head circumference but height was the 85th percentile and head was 54th. We asked the doc about sleep and he talked us through how to teach miles to put himself to sleep. Here is the handout he gave us:

Sorry I can't rotate it since I am blogging from my phone. It is going ok so far. Definitely harder for Ben and I than anything! We have to keep telling ourselves that we are doing him a huge favor to teach him good sleep habits. He got two shots while he screamed bloody murder, and the doc also told us to start giving him cereal! We tried this morning and this is what it looked like:

Also, here is a pic of the big boy waiting on Dr. McGremis:

Miles also had another photo shoot on Tuesday! I have a feeling they'll be super cute but it may be a few weeks until we get them back.

this is going to be quick

because this girl has got to get focused and back to work. wanted to take a minute though to post updates about the davidson clan. here we go:
  • miles is getting huge, he goes for a 4 month check up next week so we'll see how much he weighs, my guess is 17 or so pounds.
  • he is going to bed, unswaddled i might add, at around 8:30. he seems SOOO tired when we put him to bed but he is somehow waking up. i think he's still getting used to not have his arms stuck to his sides in the swaddle. last night he woke up at 1 and at 4.
  • teaching a baby how to sleep is "the pits" as my grandma used to say. we sometimes have the willpower to let him cry it out. it is pure torture but we are doing it not out of frustration with him, but so that he learns that he can do it on his own and doesn't need to be rocked. hopefully not too much longer of this.
  • ben and i go to bed EARLY. and by early i mean as soon as we can get our teeth brushed, our golden oreos eaten, and the bottles ready for the night. therefore, we are usually in bed by 9:30 at the latest. one night this week, we were in bed watching tv and this is how our conversation went: ben: "goodnight", me: "goodnight", ben: "and goodnight means I love you and don't talk to me anymore tonight." hahaha. he better be glad i have a sense of humor. we have to take advantage of our own sleep when mr. miles is catching his z's.
that's it for today. oh and happy birthday jonathan!!!

i think i can.....

Let's see if this works. He REALLY wants to turn over, guess I can't walk away from the changing table because for some reason he tries harder there than he does when he is on the floor!!

be still my heart.

so its been a while since i've blogged. I need to be better about this considering when i am feeding miles in the middle of the night i love to catch up on my blog reading on my phone. hopefully those night feedings will be few and far between sooner than i know. He now sleeps from 10-4:30 ish then back down until around 7. We are going to start putting him down earlier and try an 8-8 schedule. we'll see how that goes. i know the whole "cry it out" method is going in effect pretty soon so i'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will not take him very many nights for that.

this weekend is kind of a big deal. miles will be dedicated at our church on saturday, then we are having a cookout afterwards. i got him a spiffy outfit for the occasion. pics to follow of that scene.

other than that we have settled in to our "new normal". i managed to get back on the treadmill last week and ben has been doing yard work. we are still sleeping upstairs in the bedroom next to the nursery, which we actually really like. norm is still norm. just to give you an idea of how our mornings go, one day last week ben had to open at the course and so he fed norm on the way out of the house. norm comes back upstairs and gets back in bed with me (I didn't notice he had gotten up and went downstairs with Ben). Then I get up about 30 minutes later, get Miles, go downstairs, make a bottle, put a pot of coffee on, and feed norm. yep, norm ate 4 cups of dog food and a bone for breakfast. then i checked my phone to see a text that ben said he fed him. if you've ever seen norm eat you know that there is no sign in that bowl that he is ever fed, its always empty. those are the kinds of things that we laugh and say "oh well". no time or energy to worry about it!

my next blog will probably be about the disastrous nights that are ahead when we stop swaddling him when he sleeps!

wrap up

Miles' cousin Sam. What a cool dude. You better believe those glasses went home with him.

Miles on the way to Easter at Southport Presbyterian

The Easter bunny came!

We really need to get Norm a playmat of his own.

we have been busy in the davidson house lately so i'm going to catch up from the last few weeks. here are some highlights:
  • miles went to his first birthday bash. miss liv barrett turned three and this was no ordinary birthday party. she had pony rides and a petting zoo come to her house. it was a-ma-zing. i was tempted to put miles on the pony. but i didn't. good job on the party erin, it was a real crowd pleaser.
  • stacie and i had a fun saturday playdate at the mall. we both had gifts to get for people so we took the boys and headed out. sam found those awesome sunglasses at nordy. he was excited about them. obviously.
  • he likes to have a personal best with sleeping then keep us on our toes by having a bad night the next night. for example saturday night slept from 10-4:30 straight. awesome. i thought i had died and gone to heaven. sunday night? 9-12, 1-4 and 5-7. that little stinker.
  • easter was great. we went to greenwood/franklin to spend the day with ben's family. we took him to church with us. while i was supposed to have the fear of God in me I had the fear of larry davidson in me that if miles made noise i was in trouble. so the slightest grunt and i was out of there. to the nursery we went. to my delight, there were 2 babies, one of which was playing with blocks on the floor, and 2 ladies. so one lady held miles and i went back and listened to the sermon.
  • miles also visited the flying cupcake for the first time with linda, went to grandma and grandpa oliver's for dinner and met Lisa who came all of the way from new york!
  • the Easter bunny came! he brought miles a new night light, a bear named benny, a few Easter books and a toy.
  • ben and i went to a class at church for miles' dedication coming up. it was a great class and i actually wish it would have been longer. the youth pastor who taught the class said he sees way worse peer pressure with parents than with children. he also said happy kids come from happy parents and happy parents come from happy marriages!
That's all for now. enjoy the pics.

1st shots!

Miles went to the doctor on Monday for his first round of shots. Ben did the holding while this happened, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. The first one there was no reaction and the second one he was crying so hard but no sound and the third one we heard the screams. Everyone survived!
He is doing great. 12 lbs. 3.5 oz. (64th percentile), 23 inches long (55th percentile) and his head circumference was in the 52nd percentile. So all is well there. He still is eating liquid gold (Nutramigen) for another month. At $33 a can, I am ready for him to be off of this stuff. I don't even think he'll have a problem with normal formula but we'll see. And as you can see by the picture, he still projectile spits up on Norm, even with Nutramigen. Norm seems to love the stuff as much as Miles and loves to clean up Miles' spit up so he doesn't mind one bit. Gross, I know. Welcome to my world.
Our little guy is 10 weeks today!
Oh and guess what else? He is in his crib now! Well right now he is at Linda's but I mean at night he sleeps in his crib. Ben and I have been sleeping in the guest bedroom upstairs that is connected through the bathroom to the nursery. It is working great. Miles is getting up around 2-3, eats, then goes back to sleep for another few hours. We are getting used to the monitor, which is entertaining to watch. It's like watching a basketball game but we are saying with excitement "there goes the pacifier!" and "do you see how much he is grunting?" and "oh no! he got one arm out of the swaddle!"
Our lives are totally awesome.

2 months new!

mr. miles has reached 8 weeks! i am starting to see more and more every day why people say this baby thing is so much fun. our little guy is doing great. mom and dad are doing pretty good too. at two months, miles weighs just under 12 pounds and is getting bigger by the minute! he is obsessed with the baby bjorn bouncy seat. for those of you who are pregnant, go ahead and order yourself one now. my cousin angela had given one to my mom and when miles was in huntington last weekend, he chilled in that thing for hours. needless to say, one should arrive on my porch next week. he also loves being held, loves for his dad to make him smile making stupid faces, loves warm baths and lotion massages, loves grunting from 4-5 a.m. and loves going to miss linda's house. linda is watching him tuesdays and thursdays and she is the BEST!!! couldn't ask for a better setup for childcare. eventually we'll put him in real daycare but for now this is great. he gets to go to chappies with her (the neighborhood coffee shop), the mall and maddi's school.

as far as the sleep situation goes, we put him down around 10:30-11 and he sleeps until around 2:30 or 3, i get up and feed him, put him back down and he sleeps until 5:30 or 6 when ben gets up to feed him, with some grunting in between. the schedule is working for us. i don't mind the middle of the night feeding and ben likes the early morning feeding because saved by the bell is on from 5-6 a.m.

other than that we have been having so much fun with him. it is getting easier to make him smile and it is easier to figure out what he is wanting if he is fussy. tonight we are venturing to jonathan and stacie's to watch the basketball games. there will be so many babies there we will try to snap a pic of all of the cuteness. until next time, here are a few more pics of our sweet boy.

p.s. we really are working on his announcements. they should be out hopefully this week!
